Why I like American Express in Japan
My favorite way to learn Japanese online and by podcast (because it works!)
Temple Statues and Coins 2006-11-28
I wish I knew what to call these: little Buddhas (I doubt it), Jizou (I don't think so). Maybe someone can tell me. Anyway, it's late.
A friend just sent me this link about blogging and people who blog. It's a hilarious and unrelenting attack on blogs, blogging and bloggers. It may be very offensive for some (language, blunt criticisms), so consider yourself warned.
Visit my new photo blog at www.photosensibility.com for photos of Japan and Cambodia

"Blogger: Term used to describe anyone with enough time or narcissism to document every tedious bit of minutia filling their uneventful lives."
Of course, that link is supposed to be funny. However, it does ring true of some blogs. The trick is to have a blog which is more unique.
I Enjoy your blog/photo blog thing because you teach English in Japan, which is interesting to me because I've thought about doing that (or in Korea.) You take quality photographs of your family/strangers/cosplayers in Japan, with an "American" eye. This is also interesting, because I'm an American and you approach such scenes in the same way I would (not knowing exactly what the temple statues are, etc.)
So to me its, blog of your average angry teenager VS. blog of someone doing something more unique. There might be another blog/photoblog of an American abroad in an asian country, doing teaching or something, taking pictures of his family and such; however I certainly doubt if I could find ten such blogs(or even five.) ;)

If he wants to bash everyone, including yourself (see PHOTOBLOG at the link) maybe he is not worth the time to peruse.
I was looking for more on Fuji-san. I believe the search will get worse instead of better with anymore links to your "friend's) BLAGH page.

I have been to many shrines in Japan and it amazes me that the subjects for statues like these, if there were any, are never alike.
The aspect of the thought that if you pray and add some cash the answer will come, if at all,and you will get it faster.
Faith should teach us that what is the Greater Beings will always be. What is earthly will never get you there. Give freely of yourself to the Greater Being and your fellow man. The rewards will be self evident.
