Human Sign, Part One 2006-05-14
This is 1 of 3 in a series of images. It's typical to see people holding signs in public places here. I suppose it's cheaper to pay someone 10 or 15 dollars an hour (equivalent) than to rent space on a wall for a day. Often "human signs" can be seen propped up against a real sign dozing off to sleep.
I took these photos today at a student festival near Hachioji Station (put on by university student clubs from the area). I noticed the three "human sign" photos and thought they'd make a nice series. Each of the photos is complex enough to look at and think about for awhile, but they are each VERY different.
This man's sign is advertising a karaoke bar. (He was friendly and a few people actually stopped and talked with him.)
