Guys and Poster 2006-03-17

Sometimes I really wish that I could take a photo in the blink of an eye. Since I can't, I have to watch incredible photos disappear just as I see them. Today I turned a corner on a typically narrow street with light poles on both sides. These poles cause cars and trucks to swerve in and out trying not to hit the poles or each other. I saw a large truck coming downhill toward me, but coming very slowly. About a meter off the front bumper was a woman riding a bicycle. She was steering an awkward curve next to the guard rail on her left. She had one hand on her handlebar, and she was using her free hand to check email on her cell phone. She never looked back or showed any sign of concern. If the truck had hit her, I'm sure the driver would have been blamed (and she would be dead, I suppose). The point is, it would have been one of those photos that you could look at and think about for a long time.
