Waiting for Spring 2006-02-24
It was another cold day in Tokyo. We're all waiting for Spring to come. But the plum trees next to our house are blooming...
Today I talked with a couple of Australians about the weather. In Brisbane they don't really have seasons (nor in Los Angeles, where I lived before coming here). Recently, I was thinking about the benefits of seasons. The changes provide a rhythm for the passage of time. Just like real life, the year passes through bright, colorful, life-giving Spring and cold, gray, deathly Winter (like today). You really do appreciate the Spring mightily when it comes...
That's all well and good for poets to say, but right now I'm thinking the weather in LA is pretty good, and the weather in Hawaii is even better.
