Rumble in Tokyo and 55 DPE Station

Rumble in Tokyo and 55 DPE Station 2005-09-01

The Rockabilly guys (and girl) group together and, like a scene from a Stray Cats Video (or West Side Story) get ready to rumble.

On a side note, I've lived in Tokyo for three years and noticed 55 DPE Station stores everywhere. I thought this chain of stores must be expensive or low quality (or both) and never developed any pictures there. Yesterday I gave them a try. I logged into their website (see the link above), uploaded 50 images, and ordered prints. The process (all in Japanese) was simple and intuitive (using their online method, option #3, rather than downloading any software or enabling Active X). Today we picked them up at the store nearest to us (that we had specified), and I was very happy with the results. The quality was NOT perfect, but these were all family pictures that just needed to look good (and I'm sure my mom will think they're quite excellent). The price was right at just 17 yen per print (a special deal that ended yesterday). The normal price is 35 yen per print. Anyway, I'll be using them again and just wanted to pass this along.

  • what an excellent shot! And to think, most of these guys ride to and fro on the trains everyday wearing boring business suits...would be cool to see them dressed like that...kind of a before and after :)

  • 35yen!!! Takaiiiiiii!!!! I only pay 25 yen normally at this shop near my work "Oricolour". I can also use them online if I want. I find their quality quite good. www.oricolor.co.jp oh and great picture.

  • There is a link above (underlines) and in the comment (just above). The 55 DPE link may not work. I remember there was talk that they might stop taking orders online. I don't use them anymore, because we live close to Costco and I do all my developing there now.
