Japanese Shrines and Temples

Everyone who spends much time in Japan gets tired of shrines and temples at some point. There are just so many, and they start to look the same. But you can take some wonderful pictures -- especially if you show up on special holidays or at the festivals. Just so you know, shrines are associated with Shinto (Shinto Shrines) and temples are associated with Buddhism (Buddhist Temples). On this page I've mixed shrines and temples together (sorry) and tried to offer some insights about what goes on in these places.
