Odawara Houjiou Godai Matsuri 2002-2003
These are pictures from the 2002 and 2003 Houjiou Godai Matsuri, a festical and parade held each May in Odawara with a parade, lots of food and thousands of local residents in costumes of the Tokugawa Era. You can see a larger gallery (shot with a better camera) from the 2004 festival. Just return to my mail gallery page (see the lilnk above) and look for that gallery. BUT don't miss this gallery. We sat in a great spot the first year and I took some really nice photos. The parade depicts the historical, yearly march of the daimyo to Tokyo to pay tribute and show loyalty to the Tokugawa ruler.
