Colorado Columbines and Hiking

I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Colorado has always been a favorite family destination for us. My wife and I went to Durango, Colorado on our honeymoon, and we returned there on our visit home from Japan. I have always loved the mountains of Colorado. I love hiking, fishing, and seeing the wildflowers blooming at high altitudes. It reminds me of when I was young and climbing my first 14,000 foot peaks with wonder in my eyes. On this trip we hiked to a lake at about 12,000 feet. Following are some of the wildflowers that caught my attention. We were fortunate to catch the Columbines in full bloom. They are the flowers with white centers surrounded by five purple petals.
