Hanami at Shakuji Koen (Cherry Blossom Party)

Saturday was the perfect day for a hanami -- here in Tokyo anyway. I'm sorry for anyone who missed it. We had blue sky, warm sun and Cherry blossoms at full bloom. The best day of the year so far... We went to Shakuji Koen, on the Seibu Ikebukuro line. The park has a couple of lakes and places where you truly feel like you're not in the city at all. In other places, it has all the color and spectacle of a world class urban park. I like both sides. We started off with a walk that took us to the second lake, where we ate a small lunch on a bench under the blossoms of a large tree. Then we meandered back to the main lake for people watching and to let the kids play.

You are a wonderful photographer! I always enjoy viewing the photographs you take! The sakura look beautiful. I will be traveling to Kyoto in May, and am so looking forward to it! Your journal is interesting too! Keep up the good work (^^)b

The hanami looked terrific! I wish I could've been there. My sister just came back from Japan a few days ago and she went to see the cherry blossoms the same day. The closest we have around here is a Sakura Matsuri at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
